T-Mobile announces Optimus T

Yesterday, T-Mobile announced a new budget-friendly Android phone, the LG Optimus T. That name should sound familiar, as it's the same as the Optiums S announced yesterday by Sprint. T-Mobile's version is a "with Google" device and will be available in time for the holidays. It features a 600MHz second-generation processor, 3.2" screen, 3MP camera, and runs Android 2.2, Froyo.

It will be available in two colors, black and burgundy. Details on price and release date are unknown, but it's expected to be cheap. [via Engadget and Tmonews]

This is going to be very popular, if priced right. There are lots of customers out there who want smartphones, but can't afford the $200 up front prices. If this launches at $49 or $99, I predict it being in quite a few stockings this Christmas.

Haha, that's cute that the Optimus T is on T-mobile and the Optimus S is for Sprint. Aha...heh.. ahem.... What's the deal with phones suddenly specifying "with Google"? I get that the G1 did because it was the first one and it was all awesome because it was so new. And the G2 says it for nostalgia, and because it's so similar to what the G1 was when it launched. But I feel like by now the "with Google" should really be implied by the fact that it's an Android phone, and I find it very sad that it actually needs to be specified which phones are with Google and which ones are...different.
