T-Mobile announces new MyTouch

In a surprise announcement last night, T-Mobile officially unveiled the new MyTouch phone. This had been previously rumored as the MyTouch HD, but it appears to be simply called MyTouch. The device is feature-packed and looks to be what lots of T-Mobile users have been waiting for.

The new MyTouch features a 3.8" screen, 1GHz second-generation Snapdragon processor, 5MP camera, 720p video recording, front-facing camera with video calling, 8GB of memory, pre-installed games, support for T-Mobile's advanced HSPA+ network, and runs Android 2.2, Froyo.

The device will be available in several colors, and will be launched "with families in mind." Exact details about price and release date are unknown, but T-Mobile promises that the device will be available in time for the holidays. Rumors suggest a November 1 release date. This is a very impressive device, honestly. It will be running T-Mobile's custom skin, just like the MyTouch Slide, which kind of sucks, but it's still a nice looking phone. I'm a little bit bothered that it has a faster processor than the G2, as well as a front facing camera, but ultimately, the G2 is still the device I want, thanks to its physical keyboard and support from the hacking community. Still, for people who don't want a keyboard, this is one attractive option.

This looks like a really nice phone, with a lot of great features. I think this will be a very popular addition to the already popular MyTouch line.
